Learn Self Hypnosis To Stop Smoking Or Change Any Unwanted Behavior

December 30th, 2009

I emailed Mr. Langford for information on self-hypnosis. He was willing to share his thoughts with me. Here they are:
“What many people do not realize is that almost all hypnosis is self-hypnosis. What do I mean by that? Well to begin with, you cannot be forced into a hypnotic state in a clinical setting. You also cannot be forced to do something that is against your morals or ethics or to reveal secrets. The reason for this is that you never lose the ability to think about what the hypnotist is saying to you. You go into hypnosis voluntarily as the hypnotherapist guides you into the “trance” state. There are many misconceptions about hypnosis and one of the most prevalent is that when you are hypnotized you are under a spell or the power of the hypnotist. Nothing could be farther from the truth. When you are in hypnosis you never lose consciousness.”
“I have hypnotized hundreds of people,” Mr. Langford said, “And though quite a few of them did find it so relaxing that they fell asleep, no one ever lost consciousness or passed out. It simply doesn’t happen. About one out of ten people is what is called a “somnambulist,” meaning they are exceptional hypnosis subjects and go extremely deep into hypnosis and do not remember much if anything of what happened when they were hypnotized.”
Mr. Langford went on to say,”But hypnosis is actually a focused state of concentration, so people who are hypnotized are actually able to concentrate and focus their minds better than when they are not hypnotized. That is why hypnosis is sometimes used by students before taking a test, to relieve test anxiety and to focus their attention.
Another interesting fact about hypnosis is that it is a natural state and everyone goes through the same brain-wave states of hypnosis at least twice a day when they are falling asleep and waking up. You naturally go through the same process when you start to calm down and fall asleep every day, so you can easily go into hypnosis with a little coaching and practice.
The best way to learn self-hypnosis is by using a CD that is custom tailored to your needs and that guides you into hypnosis with a simple progressive relaxation exercise. There are just a few simple steps, such as taking deep breaths and closing your eyes.
Once you have learned how to go into self-hypnosis you may use it for anything you want to change in your behavior. For instance, if you learn self-hypnosis to become a non-smoker, you may also use the same simple hypnosis techniques to hypnotize yourself and give yourself suggestions about weight loss.”
Mr. Langford concluded the interview with this comment,”With hundreds of hours of clinical work with smokers I am an expert on finding the keys to quitting smoking, no matter how long you may have smoked or how impossible the task may seem. Hypnosis, the method I use to help smokers, was approved as an effective method by the American Medical Association.”
If you have habits or behaviors that you don’t want to have, self-hypnosis may be the answer you’re looking for. And it may be easier than you think to learn.

Self-hypnosis and Meditation to Make you Better

When you close your eyes and concentrate on what you’re experiencing you may find it causes you to ask yourself some pretty weird questions.
“Where am I?”
OK. It may seem obvious on the face of it. You’re in your living room, bedroom or wherever. But what evidence of that do you feel? You feel your bum and back against the chair, your feet against the floor.
But “where” is the feeling and “where” is the feeler? I used to think that my head is up here and the sensation (of feet on floor) is down there. But, with my eyes closed and concentrating on the present moment, I’m not so sure.
With your eyes closed everything’s black. Well, it’s not completely black you can see colours but it’s nothing to concentrate on, nothing to see. There’s no point of reference that says “you are here”. No distance. No scale. No comparison.
Sometimes when I close my eyes and I’m nicely relaxed I am aware of an incredible sensation of largeness. Suddenly I am not bounded by four walls or the limit of my eyesight. The result is the universe inside my head.
Try it now! Close your eyes, just briefly, relax and feel the immensity that is larger than anything you can imagine.
Now, where are you inside this universe. At what point are you? Are you outside looking in? Or inside looking out?
If you completely die to the past at every moment there is no “you”, no experiencer and experienced, just experience.
In my opinion, this brings us to complete selflessness. If there is no you, there is just being. So one is not concerned with one’s own welfare!
This may sound like a contradiction, given what I’ve been saying about selflessness, but when I started self-hypnosis I remember the feeling of complete contentment whilst sitting down and concentrating on my breathing.
And I remember it filtering into the rest of my life. A feeling of happiness coming over me in mundane situations.
I believe that it is this contentment that can suppress any nicotine, alcohol or drug addiction.
If I was happy no matter what – I was fed and watered and had no physical pain – why would I need a cig?

The Secret Of Self-Hypnosis

October 8th, 2009

What can a person do to attract more success in their life? What if they want to let go of a habit, chronic pain, fear or phobia, or they want to manage their weight or stop smoking? Any one of these and a host of other issues can either be helped or resolved through the power of the subconscious mind.
The subconscious makes up the majority of the human mind. And since that is where our habits and emotions are, the subconscious is where true change occurs. The best way to communicate with the subconscious mind is through hypnosis, either with a certified hypotherapist or with self-hypnosis. After all, most hypnotherapists would agree that “all hypnosis is self-hypnosis”. This is due to the fact that the individual is always in control.
Self-Hypnosis can be practiced daily, assisting individuals in creating positive change in their life. The steps for self-hypnosis include relaxation and visualization, in addition to using positive thoughts to create the positive change. In fact, the mind is not motivated to make the change when negative words are used such as “lose” weight, or “quit” smoking. It is more beneficial to use positive words such as smoke “free” or “ideal” weight.
Self-hypnosis should be done when a person is alert, and they are able to relax without falling asleep. They begin by taking deep breaths and slowly counting from five to one as they feel themselves relaxing. A positive thought is focused on such as: “I am happy, healthy, and at my ideal weight”, as they imagine themselves in a peaceful place.
After several minutes of repeating the thought, the person will become alert again by counting from one to five and saying to themselves “when I open my eyes, I will feel alert and refreshed”. As a result of practicing self-hypnosis, an individual will not only reduce stress, they will bring about positive change.
